These offers run from time to time because women are more hesitant about online dating and we want to encourage women to try the site.

However, after a while spammers get the better of us. They become wise to the offers and exploit the opportunity for their own gain. It’s an annoying and frustrating situation.

Generally the emails are from people who want to get members to send them money. This type of email has increased in recent weeks, and so we’ve decided to end the offer.

It’s sad really because otherwise the promotion has been a success. We’ve had many more women join the site and a lot more interaction between members.

What we can do for the moment is keep proces very low and work towards a planned software upgrade, which will take place later this year.

A. It is not the type of condom but the way it is used that matters. Properly used, condoms significantly reduce the transmission of STDs.

However, there are skin contacts outside the condom area and I have seen Herpes, HPV and mollluscum transmitted in this way despite condom use.

Improper use of condoms include: not using it until penetration (ie some unprotected sex before), not using it till orgasm, condom breaking, condom slipping off, infection creeping around the sides of a condom. So you are still at risk even with a condom. - Dr. Laurence Gerlis.

I have started seeing someone who does not have herpes (I do). He is unsure about us sleeping together and to be honest I don’t blame him.

I don’t want to pressure him. I had one outbreak and that was it. If I had warning symptoms of a future outbreak or another outbreak we would not have sex. If he uses a condom while I don’t have any blisters, will he be ok?

What else can we do to reduce his risk of getting herpes? Is there anything I can do to reduce the chances of another outbreak? - A Datepositive.net member

A. If you have only had one outbreak that is encouraging suggesting type 1 herpes.

Although you can transmit without symptoms (internal lesions), the fact that you do not get recurrence reduces the risk of transmission. If your first attack was within the last year, you should use a condom.

Keeping your general health good (plenty of sleep, reduce stress, alcohol and nicotine etc) will reduce your chances of another outbreak. - Dr. Laurence Gerlis
